copy of Guarneri del Gesu's "Vieuxtemps" 1741

This violin is a copy of Guarneri del Gesu's "Vieuxtemps" from 1741, named after the Belgian violinist Henri Vieuxtemps. It was later played by Yehudi Menuhin, Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman, among others. In 2013 it sold for more than $16 million, making it the most expensive violin in the world; it is now on lifetime loan to the American violinist Anne Akiko Meyers.

The instrument is finished with an oil varnish.
