Violin op.23,
after Guarneri Del Gesu's "Leduc" 1745
Instrument description
This violin is inspired by Guarneri del Gesu's "Leduc" from 1745 — based on the date on its label, possibly the very last violin the master ever made, since it is dated a year after Guarneri's death in 1744. Some experts believe the instrument was finished after his death by his wife, Katarina Rota. For over 30 years it was the favourite instrument of the Polish violinist Henryk Szeryng, and today it is on long-term loan to the violinist Augustin Hadelich.
