Violin op.64,
copy of Guarneri del Gesu's "David, Heifetz" 1742

The Guarneri del Gesu "David, Heifetz" violin from 1742 earned its first name from the German violinist Ferdinand David, who gave the premiere of Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto on it in 1845. Its second name comes from Jascha Heifetz, one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century, who played it for nearly 65 years until his death in 1987. Today the instrument is held at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.

This violin was made as a copy of that famous instrument. It has a body length of 353 mm and is finished with an oil varnish.
