Violin op.42,
copy of Guarneri del Gesu's "Il Cannone" 1742
Instrument description
This violin is a copy of Guarneri del Gesu's "Il Cannone", which belonged to the Italian violin virtuoso Niccolò Paganini — he affectionately called it "my cannon" (il cannone) for its rich, powerful tone. In 1837 Paganini bequeathed it to his native city of Genoa, where it remains on display in the Palazzo Tursi to this day.
