after the base of D.Montagnana cellos

This cello is inspired by the model of Domenico Montagnana, the Venetian master violin maker (1686–1750). He came to Venice at the age of fifteen, trained in the workshop of Matteo Sella (also associated with Matteo Goffriller), and from 1712 ran his own workshop under the sign 'Alla Cremona'.

Montagnana's cellos are today considered equal to Stradivari's — he developed a short but exceptionally broad model that remains one of the most widely used alternatives to Stradivari's B form.
